Theme fails to install all features on a brand new website – WordPress.com

Get help with WordPress.com, the free blogging platform, and the WordPress.com apps.
I have just started a new website, and when I go to install and activate basically any theme, it says that it is successful, but it displays nothing close to what the theme should look like. Features are missing, blocks are gone, spots for photos are nowhere to be found. Down below is a link to the images where you can see the theme I attempted to install versus what it actually looks like. I have cleared my cache, and also deactivated plug ins to attempt to fix it to no avail. This happens on nearly every theme.

Here is what it should look like versus what it does look like. So stuck! Help!
Hello there!

🙁 I can sense this is frustrating for you. The site that you’re asking about, however, is not hosted here at WordPress.com, but rather is a WordPress site that is hosted with another host.

This article should help clarify the differences between a WordPress site hosted here at WordPress.com versus one hosted elsewhere:

We do have awesome themes, that you can choose from, and install, with demo content that will load automatically, once you select that option when you choose the theme.

Since your site is new, it seems like you’re still looking into your options?! You could set up a new site in your WordPress.com account here, and then go to Appearance -> Themes to browse the available themes.

I hope this has been helpful, but feel free to reach out if you have any further questions!
Hi there, in that case, I guess I am hosted by Bluehost, but the application of my website is WordPress? How will that change the errors that I am experiencing since the editing I am doing is on WordPress, and not an issue from Bluehost? I have no clue how to move forward and feel very stuck still. Unfortunately, I have paid for 5 years of hosting on Bluehost, but had never experienced this issue with any of my other websites using the same techniques.
Hi there,
I can understand the frustration of experiencing an issue like this after so many years.
While your site may be built on WordPress technology, that is separate from WordPress.com hosting. We specifically support sites built with WordPress technology hosted on WordPress.com. And we don’t have access to sites hosted elsewhere.
Your site could be experiencing a plugin or theme conflict. If Bluehost has a way to restore your site to a point before the issue happened, that may be the best course of action. If the issue happened after installing a specific theme, you may want to contact the theme developer.
If you ever want to look at getting quick help from us directly here at WordPress.com, your entire site can be moved with a Business Plan. It comes with automated backups that can return your site to a previous point in time. We can also give help through the 24/7 chat support included in the plan.
